Biography of Band

BELENOS was brought to life in Northern France back in 1995. The original line-up of BELENOS consisted of Loïc : guitar, bass, vocals, programming, and Nathalie : guitar, lyrics. The first recording NOTRE AMOUR ETERNEL (7 songs / 47 minutes) is recorded in May 1996. This demo sells more than 260 copies. The Italian label Polyphemus records proposes the re-edition of the demo on CD limited to 500 copies. The CD is released 18 months later, in March 1998...

TRISTE PENSEE ( 9 songs / 40 minutes) is recorded in August 1997. This second recording gets the attention of a couple of labels but nothing serious becomes of it. Nathalie leaves the band at the end of 1997. ALLEGORIE D'UNE SOUFFRANCE ( 4 songs / 23 minutes ) is recorded in March 1998. At this time BELENOS is composed only of Loïc as the sole master / slave. This demo also remains unreleased.

At the end of 1998 there is an important change: BELENOS finally becomes a complete group with the arrival of Denis Sokowicz on drums, Raphaël Fontaine on guitar and Yann Desaulty on bass. ALLEGORIe D'UNE SOUFFRANCE is re-mixed in December 1998 and is released with a colour inlay card which finally reveals the true visual side of BELENOS: a new logo designed by DAHL, the usage of Celtic symbols and a coherent and reflective image. The reviews are all excellent and become almost trite! In spring 1999, the underground label Impaler Of Trendies (France) re edits and releases TRISTE PENSEE on cassette and is limited to 400 copies. This demo is released almost 2 years after it was recorded !

The first live appearance takes place in Lille, October 1999 in front of 500 metal-heads as opening act for Marduk and Enthroned. ERRANCES ONIRIQUES ( 7 songs / 39 minutes) promo tape is recorded in December 1999 and mixed in March 2000 with a much more powerful sound and the usage of real drums, this third album goes much further than the earlier recordings in every sense !

Yann Desaulty is replaced on bass by David Foulon, in the same time Raphaël leaves the band due to a lack of motivation but shall remain a good friend and cowriter of BELENOS. In august 2000, the french label Sacral Productions signs the band for the release of ERRANCES ONIRIQUES, this first real album is recorded at NRVN studio and mixed at Nymbostratus studio, the CD is out on February 2001and gets very good reponses... Denis Sokowicz is fired and is replaced on drums by Marc Devillers who is also the drummer in Fera and Edenmyst.

After a couple of gigs in France, the band recorded the new album Spicilège (9 songs / 45 minutes) in winter/spring 2002. This album is out in summer 2002 still on Sacral Productions. In the same time BELENOS recruits a better drummer in the name of Gilles Delecroix who is also the drummer of Gronibard and later of death metal gods Aborted.

September 2002, BELENOS takes part to "from the past " tour with Nehemah and Blodsrit, a lot of gigs are done early 2003 to early 2004. The band is currently working on a new album called FUREUR CELTIQUE which should be out late 2004...
