Biography of BandChicago's MACABRE are noted for their extreme music, dubbed by the band as 'Murder Metal', based around an almost obsessive theme of serial murderers. Frontman C.D. ('Corporate Death') actually owns several paintings by the renowned serial killer John Wayne Gacy given to him personally by the since executed murderer. C.D. even attended the trial of Jeffrey Dahmer for inspiration.
2000’s ‘Dahmer’ album, produced by Neil Kernon, is a concept based around the twisted life of the cannibalistic necrophile mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer and probably the first Death Metal album to include a twisted remake of a 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory' song. The long out of print but much in demand 1987 release 'Grim Reality' was remixed by Neil Kernon for release in 2002 on Decomposed Records.
The band would confirm a string of dates in Holland and an appearance at the German 'Wacken Open Air' festival. November 2002 shows found the band on the road in North America on a package billing with CANNIBAL CORPSE, CATTLE DECAPITATION and HATE ETERNAL. A run of European mainland gigs in January and February of 2004 had the group allied with POLTERCHRIST, CEPHALIC CARNAGE and BRUTUS. These shows would include the band's first UK performance, at the London, Camden Underworld, for more than a decade. US shows into March hooked the group up with PREMONITIONS OF WAR, THE END and RUNE. The band would also put in live gigs in an "eerie" acoustic format dubbed the MACABRE MINSTRELS. |
