| NACHTMAHR was founded in early autumn 1996 by Nebeltroll (drums) and Unheilsprophet (guitar). Soon the the line-up was completed by Vainamoinen (bass) and Marco (Vocals). In January 1997, Azazel joined the band as keyboarder. With this line-up, some songs were written and recorded on tape by means of a 4-tracker in April 97 (first and last edition of about 40 pieces; no more available). Immediately after the recording, Vainamoinen and Marco were fired because they lacked commitment towards the band. Marco actually hadn�t even participated in the recordings, so Azazel and Nebeltroll had taken over the vocal-parts. A new bassist was soon found in Mastema, and the vocals were taken over by Azazel after searching quite a long time fruitlessly for a new singer. So the actual line-up consists of Nebeltroll (drums), Unheilsprophet (guitars), Mastema (bass) and Azazel (keyboard and vocals); fifteen gigs were played until now. In september 1998, the band recorded a second demo, this time completely by means of a PC. It contained six new songs along with the live-recording of a concert on side B. This demotape was sold about 400 times up to date. In autumn/ winter of 1999, the third demo (entitled "Schattenfürst") was produced, featuring three studio-recorded tracks along with in- and outro. This demo was released in december 1999 on CDr, followed in january 2000 by a limited tape-edition containing two bonus-tracks and new coverartwork. In late summer 2000 four actual tracks were recorded, another one in may 2001. Four of these were published on the demo of 2001, the fifth one appeared on the next demo, eventually released in april 2002. The latter is a split-demo with the french band "Manorblatz". In september 2002, a Split-10" with Heidelberg�s pagan-black-metal band "Geweih" was released, featuring two exclusive tracks and an alternative version of one song from the Split with Manorblatz. In january and april 2003, a new song and a cover-version of Summoning�s "The Passing of the Grey Company" were recorded; the latter will appear exclusively on a sampler of Blutvergießen Distr. In Winter 2003/2004, another new song called "Pandora" was recorded and in February 2004, the song "Prometheus", originally recorded in 2003, was rerecorded together with "Das verlor'ne Paradies", the latter already published in awful sound-quality on the Split-EP "Moorleichen". |
