Biography of Band

LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE was founded in 1993 by Oliver. At the time not many bands combined doom-metal with gothic elements and LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE became one of the first ensembles to weave an intricate pattern of violins, flutes, and classically oriented female vocals. The band quickly stepped into the limelight following the release of their 1994 debut album “… and the Wings Embraced Us”.

LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE signed a distribution deal with Perverted Taste in 1995, and soon thereafter began work on their second opus, “La Naissance d’un Rкve”, released on Witchhunt Records. At the Gates-like melodies, violins, flutes, and typical Swedish death metal vocals were combined with melancholic parts in the style of Anathema and My Dying Bride. Creating a perfect blend of death metal and melancholic gothic doom, LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE once again became a pioneer in the metal genre.

To further broaden their sound, the band replaced the flute with the harp. Their songs shortened in length and became catchier hymns. This and their rising reputation secured them a five-album deal in 1999 with NAPALM RECORDS. Their third recording effort, “Memorandum”, would be released that same year, obtaining rave reviews in the international print media. A mixture of melancholy and hope characterized the album’s catchy and memorable song writing style, especially the song “Helplessness”, which would pave LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE’s future sound.

Another stylistic alteration occurred a year later, with the female vocals and harp being discarded in favor of an even gloomier approach. The band’s next full length release, “Burning: A Wish”, would proceed to top all of LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE’s previous efforts. This groundbreaking album featured Christopher’s enchanting clean voice as a primary and essential vocal feature.

Worldwide recognition came following an extensive touring campaign that took them to France and Mexico, where live shows gathered thousands of both old and new fans alike.

With their latest release, “Fall, I will follow”, LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE has once again embarked on a new journey. Recorded at Klangschmiede Studio by Markus Stock, this new release blends the style of preceding albums with melancholic rock. A deeply emotional atmosphere leads to a new dimension of sadness. Partly melancholic, partly refreshingly rocky, and captivating at all times. Cover artwork features the highly in-spired, post-Modern Art of Travis Smith.
