Biography of Band

Back in 1989, old school mates Torsten Ihlenfeld (guit.), Milan Loncaric (guit.) and Dieter Bernert on drums founded BRAINSTORM and recorded their first demo HAND OF DOOM a short time later in early 1990! Several shows with bands like Stormwitch, Exciter and Rage made the band very well known around their hometown. Just one year after Andreas Mailдnder (bass) joined the band in 1991, their second demo HEART OF HATE was released! Also in '92, new singer Marcus Jьrgens became the new frontman and soon the third demo THE FIFTH SEASON was released in '94! A huge success in the German metal underground, German magazine Rock Hard named them "Newcomer Of The Month". After several contributions on some compilations CDs, BRAINSTORM made their fourth demo tape in 1996 (PROMO '96), which gained them interest from many record companies.

After signing their first record deal, BRAINSTORM released their self produced debut album HUNGRY in 1997, which landed them several tours with bands like Morgana Lefay, Solitude Aeternus, Skyclad and Maraya, building up a strong following. One year later, UNHOLY ('98) was released and became a favourite among the critics! Having Dirk Schlдchter (Gamma Ray), Harald Sprengler (Stormwitch) and famous producer Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, amm) in the studio helped a lot to get a fantastic sound on their second effort! On the following European Tour with Iced Earth, Sentenced and Wicked Angel the singer was replaced by Henne Basse (Metalium). Right after they went to Greece with Labyrinth in early '99, Henne left the band to concentrate on his own. BRAINSTORM spent months to find a new singer, but in the end they were happy to get the consent of one of the best metal singers in the scene, Andy B. Franck (also in Symphorce). A deal with Metal Blade Records was signed and a few weeks later they started recording their long awaited third album AMBIGUITY. On tour with Armored Saint, Jacobs Dream and King Diamond, BRAINSTORM became one of Germany's hottest live acts. Right before playing fantastic shows at the Bang Your Head festival and Wacken Open Air, BRAINSTORM recorded their new album METUS MORTIS. Incredible ratings in the press, fantastic sales and an extremely crowded tour with Grave Digger and Tierra Santa made BRAINSTORM very well known in every country with a significant population of metalheads. Several festival appearances all over Europe and some extra shows with Saxon made the fans really hungry for something new!

So in March 2003 it was time to go back to the House of Music Studios and their own Storm-Your-Brain Studios to record the new masterpiece SOUL TEMPTATION! The intensity of METUS MORTIS and the variety of AMBIGUITY makes SOUL TEMPTATION their best album to date, with the oriental influenced trilogy TRINITY OF LUST at its heart!

SOUL TEMPTATION will be released as a "Special Limited Edition Double Digi Pak" incl. one bonus track and a free bonus DVD (featuring the complete Summer Breeze 2002 Show! 45 min.) as a special "Thank You" for all the fans for their loyalty and their constantly growing support over all these years…which will surely reach a new level with SOUL TEMPTATION!

BRAINSTORM have played the BLIND GUARDIAN OPEN AIR, the BANG YOUR HEAD FESTIVAL and are planning a European tour with Edguy! 2004 also marks their first US gig ever, at the BW&BK festival!
