Биография группыIn 1993, at the height of the crisis of the sector, Dark Moor start their first musical steps thanks to the union of the ideas of Enrik García and Javier Rubio, both guitarrists of the first unstable band line-ups. The firsts years of work gave rise to the composition of a few songs and the recording, in 1996, of their first demo tape “Tales of the Dark Moor”, a work that in that moment allowed us to see a good part of the essence of the band from Madrid. In that demo, already appeared some of the songs which would take part three years later of their debut album, and also coincided with the joining of some of the most important members in its history, like the bassist Anan Kaddouri or the drummer Jorge Sáez. At the begining, “Tales of the Dark Moor” was recorded with Enrik García at the vocals, but some time after would join the band Iván Urbistondo, who was in charge of recording new versions of the songs. From this moment, Dark Moor starts to deal with some record labels and to create themselves a good name in the heavy scene from Madrid. When they thought they were about to get the desired recording contract, Iván Urbistondo leaves the band, and forces it to restructure itself. The work in the jamming sessions gave place to an improvement in the quality, but in those hard times the band had to face the departure of the guitar player Javier Rubio. After the joining of Albert Maroto in his place they start the quest for a new singer, and it is when Elisa C. Martín joins the band, coming from the band from Madrid “Sabatán”. With Elisa in the band, Dark Moor decides to try again and they record their second demo, “Dreams of Madness”, in which it is considered a great improvement in instrumental quality. This evolution of the band allows a good moment for the joining of a sixth member, a keyboard player who enriches the compositive work. So, Guillermo joins Dark Moor, who will also record their third demo, “Flying”. These last two demos are the central axis of what will be “Shadowland”, their first album. But before Arise Records decides to make an offer, Dark Moor would live sweet and sour moments. Guillermo leaves the band and Roberto Peña takes his place. Moreover,Dark Moor made even bigger their shape in the Madrilenian stages after a few important gigs, like the ones they gave beside other bands like Ronnie James Dio and Barón Rojo. In August 1999, Dark Moor record in Madrid, beside Arise Records, their first album “Shadowland”. In this cd, the work of the band in its lasts years is gathered, a series of songs well known by their fans and it is very well welcomed in the wholed Spain. Also, Shadowland would be edited in central Europe and Brazil, achieving attention in most important classic heavy metal enclaves like Japan and Germany. The following tour around Spain, with some gigs accompanying Demons & Wizards, achieves to consolidate the band in the national market and to sew expectation before their next album, “The Hall of the Olden Dreams”. This second album of the band was registered in the italian studios New Sin, under production of Luigi Stefanini, in August 2000. This album would mean the definitive take off of Dark Moor, being edited in Japan, Brazil, Korea, South America, Russia, Thailand, Romania and Taiwan, and was distributed all over the world, being the first Spanish band achieving a product that creates so much expectation in the international market. In the following tour the band includes some festivals getting great success from public and the critics, like Viña Rock and Mijas Rock, and also participates in the tribute album to Helloween, “The Walls of Jerico”, with the song “halloween”, a cover which made the band get the respect and gratitude from many other bands. In those days, Dark Moor also receives the award from Heavy Rock Magazine, as revelation band of the year, and after edits a limited E.P. called “The Fall of Melniboné” for Spain, a CD that gathers some Bonus Tracks and versions like the one already mentioned from the German band Helloween. The date chosen for the recording of the third album of the band, The Gates of Oblivion, was November 2001. Again, under command of Luigi Stefanini, Dark Moor record a new successful album with the colaboration of the Valcavasian Choir, and the singer Dan Keying (Cydonia). The new creation means a step more in the growth of the band, editing itself in new countries like EE.UU. and Canada, and achieving a contract with the multinational J.V.C for the distribution of the album in the Asiatic market. The following tour allowed the band to carve an important niche in festivals like Rock Machina, Viña Rock, Nit de Reis or Metal Christmas, where they never let the audience feeling indifferent and started to attract interest for international stages. After the first half of the tour, Robert Peña, keyboard player leaves the band, taking his place, as guest member, Isabel García. Soon after, in august 2000, dark moor get in the studio again to record 4 acoustic songs that would be included in the work that will be, afterwards, the farewell album of the old line-up. “Between Light and Darkness”. This cd, recorded in the Cube studios in Madrid, gathers a few bonus tracks too from previous albums, songs that only were included in the asiatic editions of the cds, and a new orchestral version of one of their most emblematic songs, “Dies Irae”. Shortly before releasing this album the band announces their split. Due to musical differences, Elisa C. Martín, Albert Maroto and Jorge Saez leave the band, leaving Enrik and Anan to think about a new route for Dark Moor with new members and new ideas. And for that, and after a long hard selectio, Alfred Romero joins the band, the new voice of Dark Moor. After him, arrives Jose Garrido (guitars) and Andy C. (drums). This new line-up travel again to Italy to record Dark Moor, the fourth long-length album of the band, of the same name, concentrates their whishes to start a new phase in which the evolution of the sound is as important as the protection of the old essence of the band. With this new line-up, they travel to Italy again to record "Dark Moor", fourth long-lenght record of the band. With a rawer and better sound, and a quality-touch more international thanks to the aportation of the new members, specially the new voice of Dark Moor, the band confirms its positive evolution and its good health despite the changes in the original line-up, to which we must add the leaving of José Garrido. With this good feeling they jump into an international tour, conquering alongside After Forever Spain, Belgium and France. The good critiques and the repercussion achieved make feel that the seed sown by the new Dark Moor is growing up quickly! The moment to confirm this comes along with the recordings during Summer 2004 of the fifth record of the band, "Beyond The Sea", that will be released by early 2005. For this new work, under command of Luigi Stefanini, the band counts with new bass-player Daniel Fernández. To listen to his new aportation and the meteoric evolution of the new line-up you won't have to wait until the new record is released, because by the late 2004 the band gets involved in a new and expected Spanish Tour. We'll see you 'round the concerts!! |
