Биография группыLike its name, New York City-based metal band Phoenix Reign rose out of the ashes – but in this case, the ashes of a once
strong metal scene. Originally simply called Phoenix, it came into existence in Greece in the summer of 1998 with founding
members Billy Chrissochos and Chris Pollatos, playing guitar and bass respectively. They joined forces with guitarist
Kostas Psarros and with Wayne Noon on drums soon recorded their first demo back in the states. They played clubs like
L’amour with George Lynch’s (ex-Dokken) Lynch Mob, as well as the then-king of underground clubs Voodoo Lounge, and Castle
Heights with other metal acts like Zandelle and Gothic Knights. With new singer Theresa Gaffney in 2002 Phoenix Reign
began exploring new territory with successful shows in places like the Continental, Le Bar bat and the Village
Underground. In 2004 Phoenix Reign performed at the Good Times Magazine sponsored Long Island Music Festival and Don Hills
where they played with Riot and Winger. They even broke into Latin territory as Budweiser sponsored them in the local
Queens hotspot Made in Brazil.
Phoenix Reign has received radio play on WNYE’s “Aktina FM,” St. John’s University radio WSJU and Hartwick University’s
WRHO 89.7. They also appear on Rotten Xore’s “Best of the Radio Underground Volume I” compilation. The band continues to
play the club circuit, gaining a bigger fan base and bringing to the stage a mix of styles – metal, classical,
Mediterranean and old school hard rock delivered in a blistering original musical context.
Billy Chrissochos- is a founding member and a primary songwriter of Phoenix Reign. He has been playing guitar since the
age of 11 and is also proficient on the alto saxophone. His influences range from Elvis Presley and Joe Satriani to Judas
Priest, Iron Maiden and Manowar. He attended art school, and has produced many drawings, including designs for the band.
He is working in finance, on the radio, and in movies as a producer and actor for the independent film Attila Attacks! due
out Winter 2004. Tune in on Tuesday nights on Hellas FM - www.hellasfm.us or on the radio - at 9:00pm for his radio show,

Chris Pollatos- Chris is the other founding member of Phoenix Reign. He was brought up playing piano, but found an
attraction to the bass because of musical influences like Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) and Joey DiMaio (Manowar). He
contributes his skill on bass to knowing how to play piano. Besides having inborn musical abilities, he has a head for
science. He has a Master’s degree in geology, and teaches on Long Island. Chris is also an associate producer and actor in
the independent film Attila Attacks!
Kostas Psarros- Kostas is an important architect of Phoenix Reign songs as well as a professional musician who plays
classical guitar and the Greek traditional instrument, the bouzouki. Kostas’ style is undoubtedly attributed to his
versatility on both instruments. He played alongside internationally renowned Greek singer George Dalaras at the
Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in 2003. He has a degree in music and teaches in New York City.
Theresa Gaffney- The last addition to Phoenix Reign. She is a driven performer and has been playing music, as well as
writing it, since childhood. She IS a trained singer and her first instrument was the piano. Terri also has extensive
experience on guitar, which she played in other projects prior to Phoenix Reign. She quotes her influences as being an
eclectic mix of acts like Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, Megadeth, Type O Negative and Pat Benatar. She is currently
completing her degree in history, does web design with partner Thomas Melitzanas and is looking to pursue music production
in the future.
Wayne Noon- Wayne is the rhythmic backbone of Phoenix Reign. He has been playing the drums since the age of 10, honing
his skills to influences all over the rock and metal spectrum. He played in other bands in the Long Island area before
joining Phoenix Reign but left them in order to focus his talents entirely on the latter. He has recently started to play
guitar, which helps him in songwriting. |
