Biography of BandMisteltein was started in dark autumn 96 by Seron, Nagrinn, Karagat and former drummer Alex. The goal was already at this point clear, to create the best music possible within the extreme metal genre without tying oneself to a specific area.
The following year things were kind of slow, Alex left the band and was replaced by Nirag. Also Hel and Baalzephon had joined the band to create a full line-up. With this powerful line-up the material for the demo tape "Spawn of the phantom moon " was starting to take form. In February 98 the band entered Studiefrmjandet studio and recorded the entire demo over one night. Due to some problems the demo was not released until July the same year. So far the demo has been nothing but darkly praised due to its brutal and primitive sound. After some unserious record deal offers the band finally signed with No Fashion in May 99 and shortly after entered Studio Underground to hell-raise their debut album, the furious "Rape in rapture ". Before the release guitarplayer Baalzephon was asked to leave the band and was a while after replaced by Mishrack whose skills have become a great asset to the band. After enormous delays the album was finally released in July 2000. The album received very good criticism from all over the world and the name Misteltein became known through a lot of interviews made with all parts of the world.
After some problems with the choice of studio Misteltein decided to record their long awaited second album in studio Berno (Deranged, Murder corporation, The Haunted etc...). The 20th of March the band entered the studio and the album was finished the 12th of April. The result is astonishing. Misteltein has progressed in all aspects with this their new album which will be released autumn 2001 under the name Divine.Desecrate.Complete.Also there is a guest guitarsolo by Johan Axelsson (Deranged, Murder corporation). The aggression and the production, and most of all the songs, is much better then on their previous album and shows a development both musically and lyrically.
In october 2001 Misteltein did a promotional european tour as a support act to the dutch deathmetal-band God Dethroned. Session-guitarist Ahldrathan (ex-Ishtar) covered up for Mishrack. Brieftly after the tour Karagat left the band due personal reasons and the will to do something differerent. From now on all lyrics will be written by Nagrinn. All growl vocals will mainly be dealt by Ahldrathan.
In late autumn 2002 Mishrack decided to leave the band due lack of time and the involvment of his other band Soilwork. Shorty after Mishracks departure Ahldrathan joins the band to shred strings fulltime and fills the gap. Due to his experience with the band before he becomes a natural choice and a great asset to Misteltein. No suitable basspalyer is yet found and all bass will be played by Nagrinn in the case of recording. Live-events is not any obstacle though Misteltein has session-bassplayers which will fill in whenever needed. Misteltein 2003 a new album in progress... |
